The year just keeps getting better – we would like to introduce MAJOR, our newly adopted service dog in-training! Once again AARF Houston has come through with an amazing pup for our Program. Major is about 3 years old, about 47 pounds, and about as smart as they come! He is already mastering basic obedience and starting some service skills after only a few weeks with us (thanks Sam with Working Paws K9 Training!). Foster Dad, Ken Frantz reports Major loves to snuggle, doesn’t really care about any loud noises, and wants to be friends with everyone he meets. He is going to make one of the Veterans on our waiting list a FANTASTIC partner!
We are thrilled to share that our boy Apollo was adopted by his Veteran Phillip February 5th! Phillip and his family are very excited to have Apollo, we know they will take excellent care of him. Apollo & Phillip will be working towards becoming a service team in our Monthly Group Training Program. Phillip has been coming to Group class even before he was paired with Apollo, so we know they will be flying through the Service Dog requirements! AKC Canine Good Citizen Test here they come!!!
It’s Valentine’s Day and we would like to ask you to show our newest girl Daisy some special love by donating to her medical care! When we first met Daisy she was in desperate need. Despite all she’d been through, she was so sweet and gentle we knew we had to adopt her as she would make a great service dog partner for one of our Veterans! When we adopted Daisy in early January she was underweight, had ear and skin infections, hookworms, heartworms and a foot infection. With lots of love from our team and great care from our wonderful vet, Dr. Goodyear, she is on her way to recovery! 100% of proceeds will go towards Daisy’s medical bills and care. On her way to recovery!
Daisy, the day we got her
We are THRILLED to welcome and introduce everyone to our newest Board member, Director at Large, Ms. Jennifer O’Connell! Jenn was already a huge supporter and part of The Rescue for PTSD family as she is Hailey’s Aunt (Jason’s service dog), this just makes it even more official! Read more about Jenn on our team
page. Jenn and one of her three fur-babies Winston just passed their Therapy Team certification, and Winston will be helping Jenn’s clients feel comforted during depositions (she is a managing partner at Queener Law – Denver!). Follow Winston’s adventures on his page
