Testimonials

Our Veterans and their families would like to generously share with you their stories so their vulnerability might welcome others into the Rescue Family!

Jordan & Mikey:

“Mikey is such a blessing! I never know how much I needed him until we were paired. We have grown so much together in such a short time! He now alerts to my heart condition if my heartrate gets too high, which I knew was something I needed but didn’t know if he would catch on to. The Rescue and Mikey have honestly made me confident and stronger, and I can’t thank them enough!”

Kurt & Honor:

“Words can’t express the gratitude I have for The Rescue for PTSD & Honor! Honor has given me my life back. She has reduced my B/P to a 20 year low. My anger and nightmares have diminished significantly. Honor has rejuvenated my purpose for living. Honor & I have a bond that I haven’t felt in years. She relies on me & I on her.”

Jeff & Blue:

“Blue has been a true life-changer. He has made my life worth living again by helping me cope with crowds and especially with my seizures. Thank you to The Rescue for PTSD, Laura, and Sam.”

Phillip & Apollo:

“I didn’t realize how much of an impact a service dog could have on improving my quality of life until Apollo came into my life. I am thankful and grateful to the Rescue for PTSD for making it possible.”

Everett & Ranger:

“Ranger helps with my PTSD. If I am feeling depressed, he tried to cheer me up by bringing me a toy to play with. If I’m getting agitated, he gets on my lap, looks at me, and puts his little head on my shoulder. Ranger is a great little guy.”

Mark & Major:

“Major has made an enormous impact on my day to day life. He provides so much love and support to me. He greatly helps reduce my anxiety, depression, and PTSD every single day. I’m forever grateful!”

Michelle & River:

“River has changed my life for the better. I am now able to go out into public places along because River helps relieve the crippling anxiety that used to keep me paralyzed at home or had me begging someone to go with me.”

Jerry & Daisy:

“Having Daisy with me has enabled me to get out of the house again. Even if it is just for a walk, I feel like I’ve regained an important part of my life. When Daisy is with me, I find I am more confident. I feel like I am safer when she is with me, no matter where we go.”

Alisha & Independence:

“This organization has given me a reason to smile, laugh, and live again without fear. Failing does not cross my mind, nor does giving up in the face of tribulations. Thank you for loving me and not giving up on Inde and me.”

Shalean & Freedom:

“I thank God every day that the Rescue for PTSD believed in me when I didn’t think I had much life left. Today, I am here and living my best life with confidence and happiness. I had forgotten what that was. When I look back a year and a half ago, I still tear up. The Rescue for PTSD changed mine and Freedom’s life. Today, I am able to share my hope with other Veterans who suffer silently. Ms. Laura and Ms. Sam have been beside me through all phases of my life – work life, personal life, and even scared of life. Thank you, Rescue for PTSD, for giving me back the courage I lost. I hope one day I will be able to give back to Veterans what you gave me – the rest of my life.”

Brian & Gus:

“Let me take just a moment to tell you about Gus and how the Rescue for PTSD has changed my life. Since the day this amazing organization accepted me into the program, I have felt a part of a group that has shared similar experiences and just understands. From the second I met Gus, I felt a connection. He has been my partner and friend since day one. He reminds me to be calm, and he keeps the peace when things start to feels overwhelming. He honestly has improved my daily life so much. I cannot put into words how much of a positive impact Gus has had on my life. Thank you.”

David & Ipa:

“I am deeply grateful for the love I receive from both Ipa and the Rescue for PTSD. Ipa has been a life-saver. As he heals by my side, I feel comfort in the fact that he is aware of our surroundings. I feel much relief knowing he has my back. He is a big baby when off duty, but when he is on duty, he is a steadfast and calm companion. He has given me hope! I am forever grateful for Ipa and the Rescue for PTSD.”

Martin & Togo:

“Rescue for PTSD has helped me in so many ways. They have helped me understand how to properly train and bond with my service dog, Togo. It has been an incredible journey growing and learning the process of training my pup. This program has helped my dog give me the support I need for my service-connected disabilities. I appreciate all the trainers at Rescue for PTSD, and all the support they give to our community. Thank you, Rescue for PTSD!”

Evaristo & Luna:

“I met Luna when she was just six weeks old, and from that moment, we were inseparable. She has brought me so much joy, not only into my life but of my family who loves her just as much as I do. We started our journey with the Rescue for PTSD when she was just a little over 2 months, and with her help, Luna has been able to be my companion every where I go. I cannot thank them enough for helping Luna develop into my little guardian who looks after me every day.”

Travis & Baxter:

A huge thanks to the Rescue for PTSD for providing me with the guidance, skills, and hands-on training to help my dog Baxter become more than just a pet, but a true companion. Baxter helps keep me calm and feeling supported throughout the day by performing his service tasks that create space for me in public settings. My partnership with Baxter and our training experience has given me an exceptional companion with a relationship that is truly unconditional. Baxter is an amazing dog and was made even more empathetic, attentive, and loving thanks to the hard work of Laura and the incredible Rescue for PTSD team!”

Mike & Dominic:

“When I adopted my Dommie, I just wanted a family dog. He ended up glued to my hip. A friend who knew my situation with PTSD mentioned the Rescue for PTSD. Over the next year and a half, Dominic and I worked together, strengthening our bond and training. The trainers, lessons, and people I met while working with the Rescue for PTSD changed my life. I now have a deeply connected friend who goes with me everywhere. I never knew how much I needed Dommie. I only thought I was rescuing him. With the guidance of the Rescue for PTSD, Dommie rescued me. I will be ever grateful for their help and guidance. Thank you for changing my life for the better.”

Christopher & Justice:

The difference in how I navigate life now with Justice by my side is staggering. Before, I did everything I could to avoid going out away from my house, especially if it was to places I knew would be crowded. My wife likes going to the mall once or twice a month, and every time I went in the past, I would be so full of anxiety, I’d ruin the experience for all of us because I just wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible and was very short-tempered the entire time. My problems haven’t disappeared entirely, but they are far more manageable than they previously were. In addition to Justice’s calming effect on my psyche, the Rescue for PTSD worked diligently with local businesses in my area to transform my property into a home in which Justice can truly thrive. My life and the lives of my family have been changed forever. We are so grateful to God for blessing us so abundantly through the giving hearts of those involved with the Rescue for PTSD.”

Al & Agro:

“Working with Sam and the rest of the staff at the Rescue for PTSD changed everything. I hardly left the house before I started training Agro. It started small, but as it progressed, I went out more and more to work on his skills… and mine. It wasn’t just training a dog. It was training myself to take my life back.”

Joe & Drake:

“I can’t say enough about the Rescue for PTSD. Having already had a GSD for several years, I had a great desire to have Drake trained as a Service Dog. Although we initially started out very hesitant due to past experienced, the Rescue for PTSD encouraged us to get outside of our comfort level and grow as a team. It was truly difficult to come in for the first time. But seeing how Drake reacted to my anxiety during the initial training classes, I knew this was the place for us. The small class size offered an environment where we felt safe, and the interactions of the other veterans, volunteers, and staff were truly caring. This environment allowed me to focus more on Drake, rather than my anxiety levels due to the things around me. Thanks to the Rescue for PTSD, we now have a place to relate to others, care for others, and a sanctuary where I know I am not the only one out here who struggles. Since Drake and I have become a team, we go everywhere together, including places I wouldn’t have even considered in the past.”
