Meet all of our Rescue Pups and follow them on their journeys with the R4PTSD Family!

Team Rescue has three categories of Rescue Pups. Learn more about the categories and meet our pups below!
Rescue K9’s:
Rescue K9’s are pups that are either serving as therapy dogs, demo dogs who assist with training, or trainees working towards earning their stripes.
Our therapy dogs go through similar rigorous training to the service dogs. They have very special personalities that are perfectly suited for soothing the community, whether it’s in hospitals, at assisted living facilities, or in schools.
Demo dogs play a special role in Team Rescue. These pups have mastered the skills of service dogs, yet they permanently live with our Team Rescue families. They help teach new recruits how to be service dogs and keep them in line, as well as recruit pups and veterans to the ranks.
Finally, our trainees are the platform upon which the Rescue for PTSD Family is built. These precious souls are healing from the wounds of abandonment and getting long-delayed checkups and healthcare, all while learning the basics of service work. Once they’re in tip-top physical shape, our trainer and demo dogs teach them the finer points of service work while they wait to meet their perfect veteran match.

Rescue Troops:
This crew represents the heart of the work of the Rescue for PTSD. These are the former trainees who have become healthy and skilled enough for a life of service. They have patiently waited for a Veteran to come along that is the best fit for their personality and service talents and have finally met their match!
The other half each Rescue Troop team is, of course, our Veterans. Our Veterans, too, have gone through a very rigorous application and training process. They learn how to become handlers of a service dog, as well as responsible best friends and parents to the pups. They are also armed with any financial or infrastructure needs they may have to ensure the best life as a Service Team going forward.

Group Troops:
The third category of Rescue pups is our Group Troops. These are pups that were rescued by their Veterans before joining the Rescue Family. They come to our monthly group training classes as a team, working their way up the ranks from trainee to graduate.
The Group Troops get the same love and attention from Team Rescue as the Rescue Troops. They get the assistance the Veterans need to support the pair, as well as needs-based training tailored specifically to the Veteran. They are a beloved and integral part of the Rescue Family.
