Honor was donated to us on Valentine’s Day 2020 by a very generous group of patrons who bid on her at the Kiss for the Cure event benefitting The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Honor was supported by the Belle’s of Houston specifically for a Veteran from the Lone Survivor Foundation as part of what we hope will become a fantastic new Partnership with The Belles of Houston & The Lone Survivor Foundation.
She has always been a very bold little girl, even as a pup hanging out with the big
dogs and tackling the obstacles at the agility course like a pro! She is very brave and incredibly smart (and sassy!), wanting to investigate everything yet walking like a lady on her leash.
She is a great swimmer, loves to hike, has mastered most of her advanced obedience, and knows a LOT of service skills. Learning new tasks and snuggling are her two favorite things!
We had 17 Veterans from the Lone Survivor Foundation apply for Honor and could not have found a better fit than her forever dad and Veteran – Kurt! He spent 4 days with the Rescue in transition training.
Kurt bonded with Honor and learned all about her skills, commands, and vocabulary she responds to. They participated in our Monthly Group Program and had multiple sessions every day, out and about practicing to be a service team. Kurt & Honor were also certified by our amazing trainer Samantha Scott (Working Paws K9 Training) to be a therapy team, so they will be going out and sharing Honor’s cuteness and affection with others!
“Words can’t express the gratitude I have for The Rescue for PTSD & Honor! Honor has given me my life back. She has reduced my B/P to a 20 year low. My anger and nightmares have diminished significantly. Honor has rejuvenated my purpose for living. Honor & I have a bond that I haven’t felt in years. She relies on me & I on her.”
